Sean George, Ph.D.
English Composition Chair / Assistant Professor
Sean M. George grew up in Abilene, Texas, and received his B.A. in English from Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas, and his M.A. in English from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, CO. After teaching in public schools for almost ten years, he returned to graduate studies, earning his Ph.D. in English from Texas A&M University-Commerce in Commerce, TX, in May 2010. His dissertation drew connections between select pieces of American literature that feature characters traumatized by war (especially in the fiction of Ernest Hemingway and Tim O’Brien) and those characters traumatized by our postmodern, materialistic, mass-consumer society (Chuck Palahniuk’s Fight Club in particular). Dr. George began teaching at Dixie State University in August 2011.
