Susan Ertel moved to St. George in 1999 from Arkansas where she taught at Westark Community College, now University of Arkansas Fort Smith, for nine years. At DSU, she is an Associate Professor of English specializing in developmental composition and grammar. She has an MA and a BA in English from the University of Central Arkansas. She is a doctoral candidate at Grambling State University for an Ed.D. in Higher Education Leadership with an emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction. Her dissertation focuses on students in developmental math courses and their success rates in the gateway math courses required for graduation.
