My name is Dr. Terri Craig, and I joined Utah Tech University in 2008 as an adjunct professor in the English Department. This was before the university status and the growth and expansion we are now experiencing on our campus, with our faculty, and most importantly with our students and student programs. Today I am so pleased to be a full-time Instructor of the Practice of English at Utah Tech University. I mainly teach English composition courses both online and face-to-face, but I have also taught business communications and Trailblazer Connections courses.

I am a native of sunny Southern California – the first child of a civil servant, who was an honest-to-goodness rocket scientist and a stay at home mom. Growing up I spent as much time as humanly possible with my nose in a book; reading was my passion. When I graduated from high school, I was not quite ready to attend college, yet I could not find a job that would pay me to read all day. On a whim I walked into a military recruitment office and ended up enlisting in the US Air Force. It was one of the best decisions I ever made. I spent 31 years in the US Air Force, and during that time I lived in six states and two countries, traveled the world, made life-long friends, and learned a lot about life and living.

Over a decade into my military service, I learned that in order to advance in rank, I had to have an A.A. degree. To get an A.A. degree, of course, I had to go to college. By then I was in my early 30s, and I was ready to be a learner again, so I enrolled at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida. My love of reading made it easy to choose an English major. Later, while still on active duty, I earned my M.A. in English online from National University in La Jolla, California. When I retired from the military in 2008, I felt called to teach, and I found my way to Utah Tech University. Since then, I have completed my Ph.D. in Education online from Capella University, and I am enjoying my work as an Instructor in the Practice of English.

In my spare time, I still enjoy reading, but there is more to life than that. My husband, David, and I have four children; two grandchildren; two Yorkies; and a cranky, old, gray cat named Graycie. We love to travel in our RV; our favorite destinations are Florida (where the grandkids are), any beach anywhere, NFL football games where our Seattle Seahawks are playing, and any place we can catch a NASCAR race. We also love cooking, picking for antiques and vintage treasures, and binge watching all the latest television series.
